  • Toronto’s second winter has me slurping soup like nobody’s business. I’m not complaining cause this soup was top notch, but crusty old man winter can pack up his bags and kick rocks anytime now. I’m ready to get in the garden. #beatit

Soups are the perfect solution for using up scrap veg from the crisper drawer. #endfoodwaste. This crisper drawer creation is packing kale, carrots, mushrooms, nori, miso, chicken, broccoli and a random potato I had kicking around. And it was mighty tasty.

  • I was getting my meal prep on last night and decided to put on my baker’s hat after a few glasses of vino. Turns out wine doesn’t like to follow recipes... so I followed my rebellious leader and was shocked that these bad boys  actually turned out!
.
Forgot to add the coconut sugar  but the sweetness of the bananas were all like “we got you girl!”.
.
Also realized I didn’t have the right flours, so started tossing in a blend of what I had on hand and announced to my hubs that this would be a disaster (and poured more wine) but man was I wrong!!! I have no idea what happened but these #glutenfree #lowsugar banana nut muffins are magical.
.
Looks like it’s time to grab another bottle and attempt to recreate these golden, fluffy creatures (and actually write down the recipe)!

  • If I had to choose between never listening to 'Shoop' by Salt-N-Peppa ever again and never eating Soup ever again, it would be a toss up. I don't know why anyone would ever give someone that ultimatum (or why I even thought of it), but if they did, they would be a mighty big asshole in my books. Especially after spending years mastering the lyrics to my fave jam and then recently trying this super delicious #dairyfree Cheesy 6-Vegetable Soup from @ohsheglows. It tastes like next level broccoli cheese soup using nutritional yeast, sweet potato, carrots, celery, broccoli, onions and garlic. So if you want to become # 1 on my sh*t list, ask me to choose. I dare you. #pleasedont #idonthaveashitlist #manfriendapproved #feedfeed #f52grams
  • 47% of all food waste in Canada is produced by individual households (ya, that's us)🤦🏼‍♀️. So in an attempt to step up my game, I'm grocery shopping solely from my kitchen today as I meal prep for the week. We tend to forget those lonely dried goods hanging out in our pantries or the greens kicking it in the back of the crisper drawer as we write out our grocery lists and head to the store (cause shiny and new feels better for some reason). Well it's time to show those lonely little tasties some love!

👩🏼‍🌾 Do an inventory of what food you already have on hand, clean out the fridge/pantry and bring those hidden gems front row & centre so you remember to use 'em up!

👩🏼‍🌾Get creative and use up what you already have.
.
👩🏼‍🌾Soups, stews and casseroles are a killer way to use up odds & ends leftovers.
.
👩🏼‍🌾Freeze what you won't eat right away. Even if you think that 'maybe I'll eat it later this week' freeze that shit.
.
👩🏼‍🌾 Extra fresh herbs or greens? Blend those babies up with some olive oil and freeze into ice cubes trays to use in sauces or smoothies etc later.

🍴Oh and this savoury oatmeal bowl was the creation of random fridge and pantry scraps and it was bomb!
🍴oats cooked with veg broth with rosemary sautéed mushrooms and garlicy collard greens, purple cabbage kimchi, toasted pumpkin seeds, soft(ish) poached egg and a sprinkle of nutritional yeast. Because a Sunday well fed, brings a week of content (or something like that). #feedfeed #f52grams

☕️Swap out dairy cream for coconut milk (the full-fat canned stuff) Or my personal fave, coconut milk powder.

☕️Don't let coffee be the first thing to hit your stomach in the morning. Just don't.

☕️Add some collagen peptides for a tasteless dose of protein and a win-win for hair, skin & nails. I haven't tried it yet, but the coconut milk collagen creamer from @vitalproteins looks amazing!

☕️Ditch the mouldy beans! Look for #organic brands that test for mycotoxins.
.
🤷🏼‍♀️WTF are mycotoxins? They are a fungal toxins commonly found in coffee beans because of moist growing conditions and the drying process. While you won't drop dead after drinking one cup, if you're doing it daily, you gotta step up because, well, that shit accumulates. The peeps @beanhead_coffee Are doing it right and no fancy, boutique coffee shops needed. You can snag a bag of beans from  @sobeys @walmartcanada or @Amazon
